What I've been up to.

Hello and Happy Tuesday!

How's everyone doing today? So, a few of you may think of this as my first blog post and in some aspect you're probably right. This is my first post using this platform and blog title. I have another blog/website under the same name, just using Weebly to host it. You can currently view that HERE. I've used Blogger before, when I very first began thinking about creating an actual blog. I didn't really know a whole lot about blogging at that time or about creating and managing a blog. Which made me feel like Blogger wouldn't be a right fit for myself. Now that I've been using Weebly for the past few months, I decided I wanted to go back to Blogger and give it another shot. I do really like Weebly. It is extremely easy to use and has a nice clean design. However, I do have a few issues with it. I seem to keep having issues with my RSS feed and its a little limiting. I'm still not sure which platform I prefer yet so I'll be keeping them both until I make a decision. I'm also open to any input you guys may have about which one to go with.

When I first started using Weebly I wanted to create a hodgepodge blog. Although, it quickly turned into a motivational blog. Which, honestly was just fine but I began to feel like my blog wasn't very representative of me. Yes, I do like to inspire and motivate people. Yet, thats not all I'm about. I do have other interests and started feeling like my Weebly was too robotic. I began feeling like I couldn't post any other types of content to my blog without ruining it. Furthermore, I didn't feel like I was learning about myself. I didn't know what to write about, I'm not even sure what I'm passionate about. That's what my blog was supposed to help me do, explore my interests and see where it takes me. Not limit myself, but limit myself is what I did. My hopes for creating this blog on blogger is to start again, a little revamping of myself. I hope that you guys will follow along with me as I try this again.

So. Here's whats been going on...

Before I went all radio silence on Weebly, I discovered the art of stamping cards and other crafts with the use of rubber stamps. OH. MY. GOODNESS!! I fell in love! I've never seen so many cute stamps and ideas before. I never really looked I guess. So before I stopped blogging, I decided that I wanted to get into stamp crafting and paper crafts. Honestly, this makes a lot of sense to me for a few different reasons. I've always loved writing and doodling. Mostly writing. In the form of journaling, creative writing, poetry, typography, etc. I have also created cards for my family members several of times. Never as nice as some of these cards I've been recently inspired by, yet they did the job. I love stationary and pens. So definitely getting into this hobby makes sense.
I didn't jump right into stamping when I pulled back from my blog. The money just wasn't there yet. Instead, I began researching. What kind of stamps to use, the different types of inks and papers. There is so much information out there and I've barely scraped the top. It's always a learning process but this is a fun learning process and I love it! Luckily I have an amazing husband. He took me right over to Michael's as soon as he had the money and I got to pick up some starter supplies. A few different stamps, some markers, and a black ink pad.

He's pretty darn smart too! He started looking on eBay when I told him about this hobby and how interested I was. Before long, I had a set of 200 different stamps! Most of them were heavily used and some not at all. He found the whole stash for less than $80! I couldn't believe the jackpot I hit!

Once all those stamps came in, I went right to work. Practicing how to stamp with markers and the ink pad. I started coming up with ideas for cards, now that I had something tangible to look at. I even created two "Thank You" cards for my sister-in-law over at Erika's Visions for a couple of clients she did a photo shoot for. As a way for her to say thank you, Erika bought me another stash of rubber stamps I had been looking at. Giving me a total of over 200 stamps for less than $100! Now thats a HUGE steal!

Then for this past Easter, my dad bought me another acrylic stamping block and a set of the clear cling stamps in a herb set from Stampendous. They are super duper cute and I am so excited. The stamping block he got me is adorable. It's from Lawn Fawn and even has their name etched into the block. I love it. I am really looking forward to doing some more work this week. I just want to try and get caught up with my blog again.
