Valentine's Card Series | Card 2

Hello hello everyone. I made my second Valentine's card!! I am so super excited to share this card with you today. Finally I'm starting to feel like I got my groove back. Usually when I do cards like this, where I build the landscape, they turn out less favorable. This one however turned out much better than I had anticipated.

Without further ado...

Again with the terrible photo! I do apologize. Lol at least it isn't that awful. Surprise! Surprise! I did use my actual camera for these photos. They came out much better than my previous photos ever have. Once I get better at taking the shots then I'll be able to give you guys some nice crisp images. Eventually...

When I first started card making, I didn't have any materials to work with nor a lot of money. So to get me started my hubby bought me a bunch of used stamps from someone on eBay. He scored so many at such a great deal and just like that my collection of stamps were born. Now in these used sets we were buying, a majority of the stamps don't show the brand they came from. Which means that unfortunately I don't know where most of them are from. Now that I pointed that out, let me get to my card.

For this card I really wanted to use a fresh and bright color scheme. I chose to go with a Recollections pale blue card stock for the base and layered a piece of Target Brand pink striped patterned paper to the top. This creates the background for my main image. Normally I have a hard time creating a landscape for my people/critter stamps. Even so, I thought I would try it again and wouldn't you know? This card came out much better than my expectations!

Card 2 - Exterior

To build my landscape I started with some Recollections white card stock cut smaller than my patterned paper, stamped that with this super cute cloud stamp I got from a garage sale for only .50¢! After that I sketched out a hillside on some green card stock my brother gave me and cut it out. Once that was done I traced out the hill onto the white card stock and stamped out some plant life. On a scrap piece of white card stock I stamped out this cute little bear stamp I got in the eBay batch aforementioned. I heat embossed the bear, colored him in using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens and fussy cut him out. Using the same scrap paper I stamped out two little birds from one of my Jillie Bean stamp sets. Colored those in and fussy cut them as well. Deciding that I needed a sentiment for the front, I pulled out my "thinking of you" stamp from the Michaels $1.00 bin and stamped it out onto some remaining patterned paper cut into a banner. Since I tend to keep adding more, I smooshed some light blue ink onto my scrap paper and used a cloud punch out I also got at a garage sale. Arranged everything where I thought it would look good and adhered it all together using my ATG gun. to add some dimension I used foam tape under the birds, bear, banner and a couple of clouds.

Card 2 - Interior

Now, you all know I can't leave the inside unfinished. So I went ahead and stamped the bear on the inside with some Memento red ink and a "Happy Valentine's Day" greeting on a patterned paper banner. Punched out a few hearts on the white card stock and stuck them all together. Voila! All finished.
