Birthday Card | Butterflies

Hello Hello. So funny story... My hubby and I have Amazon Prime so naturally I love to browse the website and add stuff to my wish lists. Well one night, the week of my birthday, I was adding some stuff to my wishlist and found this beautiful pack of patterned paper. The Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante deluxe collector's edition pack. Ack! It was so beautiful and I had to have it. Then I fell asleep. A few days later after my birthday I received a package from Amazon. Inside it was that lovely pack of paper I had been eyeing. My first thoughts were to thank my husband for it and ask him how he knew. As I was sure that I hadn't told him. I expressed my thanks to him and he was a little confused. Assuming it was something he bought but couldn't remember, he accept my thanks. Later on that day I was looking at Amazon again and had realized that I was the one that ordered that paper pack. LOL! Trying to figure out how I ordered it without knowing I told the hubby and we realized that I had hit that damned 1-click buy! Haha. So now I have this lovely pack of paper that I ordered by accident.

Anyhow, we got another birthday today as well as a new card! My sister in law likes butterflies so I decided to make a butterfly and steampunk inspired birthday card for her. Grabbing my inspiration from that pack.

Shall we...

Steampunk Butterfly Birthday Card - Exterior
I went with a light colored card stock for the base of my card and a beautiful butterfly patterned paper from my steampunk pack. Corner chomped both my card base and background, on opposite corners. Added two gold star brads between some butterflies on the left.
In that pack of paper there was this lovely image of a Goddess looking woman in matching colors to the background paper. She also sort of resembles an Aquarius sign to me. Which is fitting for this birthday. then I matted her to the same sandy beige colored card stock as the base and adhered it to the background over a strip of gold glitter washi tape.
Steampunk Butterfly Birthday Card - Interior
For the inside I used some indigo blue Bazzil card stack as a background to help stabilize the card. I wanted to do something simple for the interior since, on the front, there is a lot going on. To finish off the card I added a "Happy Birthday" sentiment to the inside with some slow drying ink and added Solar Gold PearlEx to the top of it. Creating this brilliant gold shimmering sentiment.

Feel free to share this post if you want and thank you all so much for taking the time to view this post. I greatly appreciate it.
