Birthday card with palm trees.

Hiya everybody so today is my dad's birthday. Which means I've got a new card to share with you. I haven't made a whole lot of masculine cards yet but I am super happy with the way this one came out. I did have a few hiccups because I used a new product that I'm still not all that familiar with. Lets take a look at that card!

Using a piece of patterned paper from a Tim Holtz Halloween paper pad, I adhered the background to a black card stock base. It took me a little while to find a good stamp for my main image. I don't have a lot of manly type stamps. However, I did find this awesome palm trees stamp that I got at a garage sale. Since we are Guamanian, I figured they would go perfect for an island theme. A distressed island theme.

So that new product I mentioned above is this stuff called PearlEx. Hubby got it for me during Christmas and I am still learning how to use it. Its basically really fine shimmery mica powder that can be added to or mixed with other mediums. I used the ink from one of my stamps to adhere the powder. The PearlEx powder color I used on the trees is Antique Copper. I tried a couple of different colors but this is the one that worked the best on the craft card stock I used. Then I matted it with some more black card stock and adhered it to the front. After that I heat embossed a sentiment in black embossing powder on the background and added the chair and tiki stickers to finish off the front. The stickers I used came in a binder that was free on this Facebook group I'm in. You don't have to have a lot of money to start your craft off.

For the inside I used the rest of the Tim Holtz patterned paper that I used on the front and adhered it to the inside after stamping out some more palm trees. Then I added the Happy Birthday sentiment to the top to finish it all off.
