St. Patrick's day | Sending a Smile

Hi everyone and Happy Saturday. I hope you're all having a fantastic weekend.  We have been having some insane weather here yesterday and today. So I'm staying inside and trying to stay warm.

Since I'm not usually the person who plans ahead and has things done before hand. I am pretty excited to say that I created two St. Patrick's Day cards for this year and well before the time frame! Yay me!! I may make some more but I'm not sure yet. I don't really have anything St. Patty's related other than my sentiment. So it took some brain power and creative juices just to put together the ones I did.

On to the details.
I had a lot of fun putting this card together!
I try to keep a stock of pre-cut, scored, and folded card stock for quicker assembly. It just makes for one less step. They are all prepped for a regular A2 sized card (which is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4), granted a few of them may be off by a centimeter or two.

Then I cut down some basic white card stock also from Recollections. I thought that I had cut it within the 1/4 inch range from my base but it was off just a little. So I ended up trimming the sides down more so that it was a little smaller than I normally use for a background. To be honest, I actually really like the slightly smaller background on this card. It worked really well. Using the piece of white card stock, I then put it in a circled embossing folder from Spellbinders and ran it through my Sizzix Big Kick.

Afterwards I grabbed my Tim Holtz ink pad in Twisted Citron and sponged it lightly all over the embossed paper. Creating this two-toned pattern and creating a beautifully intricate background. Then I added some Recollections floral washi tape in a strip along the bottom.
For my clovers I trimmed down a couple of thin slices of green card stock for the stems. Punched out some random green patterned paper hearts. To give the hearts more of a clover look, I folded them in half and glued them together. Then glued those over the top of the stems I had already glued down.

For my sentiment, I stamped out a "Happy St. Patrick's Day" sentiment from Hero Arts onto some green distressed patterned paper. I used my Emerald Green Colorbox ink pad and embossed it with clear powder. Cut the sentiment into a banner style and purposely didn't adhere the entire thing down. So that I may lift up the edge of one side to give it more dimension. Adhered everything together and finished it off with some gold and green sequins.

For my cards interior, I used another piece of white card stock and ink blended the Twisted Citron I used on the front, to the outer edges of the paper. Since I don't have any other St. Patty sentiments, I used this "Sending you a smile" stamp. It felt appropriate and wasn't too weird for the card. Needing a little extra I added some "Gold Coins" to the bottom corners of the background. To do that I used my Ranger clear embossing pen and dabbed on some Brilliant Gold PearlEx powder. Not the best coins haha!

So thats it for my card! I hope you guys enjoyed it and thank you for reading!
